In order to ensure that, in its second century, the University of St. Francis (USF) continues to deliver on its promise to prepare students to build a Franciscan future through service and leadership, the university\u2019s 2024-29 strategic plan has identified five key objectives that will focus the university\u2019s continuous improvement efforts.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Objective 1<\/strong><\/p>

First, and most importantly, USF will leverage its Catholic heritage and Franciscan identity (of a values-oriented institutional culture) to\u00a0create a welcoming community of learners<\/strong>\u00a0so that our students, lead, succeed, and graduate in order to contribute positively to their communities. This includes\u00a0ensuring that our student body embraces a global world.<\/strong>\u00a0As importantly, USF will increase students and employees\u2019 understanding of\u00a0Catholic, Franciscan values and Catholic Social Teaching<\/strong>\u00a0so USF exceeds national averages for student and alumni satisfaction and learning outcomes. A strengthening of our\u00a0\u201ccommunities of learning\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0will provide all members a sense of belonging. Finally, we will maintain\u00a0a persistence and completion rate higher than our peer institutions in each of our student populations, and for specific vulnerable populations.<\/strong><\/p>

Objective 2<\/strong><\/p>

Second, in order to ensure that USF is among the \u201csurvivors\u201d of the current shakeout in private higher education, the university will strive to\u00a0increase its reputation and awareness as a leading Catholic, Franciscan university with excellent student educational outcomes<\/strong>\u00a0to increase the size of the student population. This includes\u00a0increasing undergraduate and graduate applications, improving rankings in key national and international college reviews and\u00a0quality listings<\/strong>\u00a0(like\u00a0Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report)\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0increasing the percentage of alumni who philanthropically support USF.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Objective 3<\/strong><\/p>

Third, USF will\u00a0increase the quality of its academic and co-curricular programs<\/strong>\u00a0so that graduates of USF are prepared to contribute to the world through service and leadership. USF will manage\u00a0a broad portfolio of specialized accreditations<\/strong>\u00a0(when accreditation is advantageous and validates the program quality), demonstrate consistent or increased student performance on key GenEd outcomes, <\/strong>demonstrate consistent or increased quality of academic and co-curricular programs,<\/strong> and provide\u00a0high quality academic programs and co-curricular learning opportunities.<\/strong><\/p>

Objective 4<\/strong><\/p>

Fourth, USF will\u00a0strengthen its<\/strong>\u00a0financial capacity and long-term sustainability through enrolment growth, strategic investments, securing major grants and donations, and effective stewardship of resources.\u00a0<\/strong>This will happen by allocating resources to ensure\u00a0academic program viability and quality of mission-essential and market-driven programs, ensuring acceptable contribution margin across the four colleges.\u00a0<\/strong>The university will also increase the scale and scope of\u00a0revenue beyond traditional tuition sources,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0strengthen the balance sheet\u00a0<\/strong>while constraining expense growth. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Objective 5<\/strong><\/p>

Finally, USF is committed to\u00a0cultivating an environment that attracts, develops and retains faculty, staff and administrators who embrace a culture of continuous improvement along with USF\u2019s mission and values.\u00a0<\/strong>This will require developing a\u00a0\u201cstrengths-based\u201d culture<\/strong>\u00a0across all divisions by focusing on\u00a0employee engagement<\/strong>,\u00a0attracting new employees, retaining and developing employees who exhibit a commitment to continuous improvement and our mission<\/strong>, and\u00a0establishing policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all personnel<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
