Within the computer science realm, the Information Technology\/Network Specialist degree is designed for Joliet Junior College students completing the AAS degree in Computer Information Systems (Network Specialist option). Network specialists ensure constant connectivity within an organization. They set up, support, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and other networking systems. They also install routers, switches, firewalls and network-related software programs. Network specialists work for a variety of employers, including information technology firms, education companies, health care organizations and more. Many entry-level network specialists start in help desk or support positions but can grow into management roles. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job openings for network specialists are expected to increase by 20% by the year 2022, which means many new positions will be available in the near future.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
